Hi guys. Today I have a look inspired by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails. Who doesn't she inspire? Am I right? I followed her Easy Sideswipe Nail Art tutorial to the letter using the six, cool, nude shades in the new Zoya Naturel Satins 2015 Transitional Collection. I love all of the Zoya Naturel releases. The shades are so soft...perfect for work. This set has a hybrid finish - not quite matte and not glossy either. I ended up topping off my look with Zoya Matte Velvet Topcoat so my finished product is a little more matte than these shades are on their own.The colors remind me of Monet's waterlillies...which got me thinking about painting...which made Sarah's recent tutorial pop into my head. I used all six colors (Sarah uses three). Each Naturel Satin is a similar tone (grey quality) of a range of pastels, so the design doesn't pop off the nail like Sarah's did with the bright colors. But the design turned out exactly like I imagined. I love the painterly look of it.
The satin finish without topcoat is great, especially with these colors. Unfortunately, my nails were bumpier than I wanted after the layers of polish, so I first used quick dry topcoat, then the Zoya Matte Velvet, to smooth everything out.
Here are the six colors in the collection. It's hard to pic a favorite! I think I like Rowan the best. It's a beautiful putty color that's cool and neutral at the same time. [zoya bottle shots below]
