Super Black Lacquers 2014 Summer Collection Nail Art

 press sample
Before I get too deep into Fall polish-land, I have one last summer collection to share, Super Black Lacquers (SBL) Summer 2014. This collection is seriously amazing! I've been so remiss in posting about it. On three separate occasions, I swatched these beauties. And each time, I hated my photos. The polishes are so incredibly vibrant and yet my pics were dull and weird (especially the orange). Color correcting only washed the color out more and made my hands look like aliens!  Each time I would get disgusted and give up. Some will say, "Show us the pics anyway!" But that wouldn't be fair to Natalie, who took such care to create such intense colors.

Well they've been taunting me from the swatch pile long enough! So last weekend I decided to use them to create some nail art. The camera doesn't seem to freak out as much when it has multiple contrasting colors in the frame. But my colors still aren't perfect, so be sure to check them out on the SBL website because those pics are much more accurate.

The set includes four loud cremes, two bold glitters and one not-so-flashy, but still complementary glitter. They are all really fun and intense. The orange (Flash Bastard) is crazy bright and the yellow, with it's translucent black glitters, and green, with purple glitters, are so creative! The inset shot (below) was taken under black light.

To create this look, I started with two coats of Flash Bastard. Then I criss-crossed two pieces of striping tape over the nail, coated it with a white creme, and removed the tape. This was a necessary step so the neons would pop against the orange background. Next I used a small flat nail art brush to freehand the other colors over the white blocks, leaving a small white border around the edges. This look is so much more fun and crazy in person because the colors are so loud!

Below are SBL bottle shots. They're much more accurate than I could manage. The only shade I didn't use in this look is Rinse + Repeat. The base is a slightly sheer white crelly with transparent pink glitters. It's delicate, which makes it different from the rest, and yet it still fits.

As usual, I'm impressed with SBL. Every polish blows me away! My fave from this bunch has got to be Freaky. Purple glitter in a neon green base is pretty genius, I think!

The SBL Summer Collection is still available. Each generous 15mL bottle retails for $12. Buy more, save more! Three or more bottles are $11 each and five or more bottles are only $10 each. Purchase them online at superblacklacquers.com and follow SBL on Facebook too.
