Tieks Ballet Flats...Yes! They're Worth It!

Hi guys. I hope you had a great weekend. My posting was slim last week. We made a last minute trip to Universal Studios in Orlando. My daughter is a huge Potter-head (and I'll admit, seeing Diagon Alley in real life was pretty amazing) - but it was soooooo hot. How do you Floridians survive the summer?!

So I have one more thing I'd like to blog about concerning my time at Cosmoprof North America (CPNA)...and it's not polish-related (or even beauty-related). It's not even a press sample. But I'm such a convert that I thought it was worth posting my experience, especially since I did lots of googling myself before I caved and made the large investment. I figure my review might help someone else down the line. It's about shoes, comfortable shoes...Tieks by Gavrieli. They're simple, leather ballet flats.

So why is this such a big deal? Well last year at CPNA, I bought "comfort" heels...but by the middle of the second day, I was miserable. I literally called my husband (he and my daughter came with me to Vegas last year) and insisted that they leave their luxury spots by the pool and make the one mile round trip (no joke) to the conference center to bring me my flip flops. I ended up walking back to the room barefoot...through a casino (ack! the insanity!) at the end of the day and buying some atrocious looking silver "purse flats" to wear from that point forward. So this year I was determined to pack a comfortable option. I'd heard of Tieks, but at $175 a pop, I was skeptical. That is a LOT of money for a pair of shoes. But let me tell you...they are worth every penny! I'm like a Tieks evangelist...telling everyone I meet about these shoes.

I ended up ordering two pairs. Camel and Cardinal Red (I was all in...plus there's free shipping on returns so why not?!) They arrived super fast and neatly packaged in Tiek's signature turquoise boxes. Each pair comes with it's own travel pouch and the shoes fold up nicely and will fit in most average-sized bags. I wore Tieks every day, all day, at the conference. This saved my feet for heels on my nights out.

Some flats look big and bulky and almost unkempt on me. But Tiek's tight profile and soft leather is clean and classy. Can you imagine these for your wedding? I'd buy a pair for every bridesmaid as their gift. I wore both pairs constantly for a few weeks to work before the show. The Camel is definitely more yellow than it appears on the Tiek's website; but it's a great color if you want that nude look, but have a tan.  The red is deeper, more brick-red than primary red. They are soooo comfortable and required zero "breaking in". The elastic was soft around my heels and the support was surprisingly good given just how delicate they are.

I also wore them to Universal Studios one day (a day I knew we wouldn't get wet). They weren't as comfy on concrete (but what is, really?). I was worried my feet would be hot (and sweaty) and the leather would stretch. But they held up perfectly. Here's a shot of me in line for a ride. I wore the red ones with white linen cropped pants and a navy and white striped t-shirt. Super cute outfit!

Now I'm obsessed. Seriously, if I spot the Tieks turquoise sole on someone...I have to stop them and like have a moment with them. LOL. And now I  have a co-worker who has purchased five pairs (yes, five!) in the last two months because I can't shut up about them. They come in dozens of colors and styles (classic, patent, print, and even a vegan option). Now I know time will tell how they hold up. It does worry me because the leather is supple and I'm really pushing them to the limit. But I figure the more pairs I have, the more I can rotate the wear time. I already have a laundry list of colors that I want asap. Here they are in random order. ;)

So what's the most you've ever spent on shoes? Was it worth it? If you have some Tieks, I'd love your feedback!

You can shop for Tieks online at www.tieks.com. They also offer occasional coupons on facebook, so it's worth liking their page.
