a-england Ballerina Collection Swatch and Review
Monday, February 10, 2014
Adina, the creator of a-england, has done it again with thoughtful inspiration. The four shades in The Ballerina Collection are inspired by Dame Margot Fonteyn de Arias, one of only a few ballerinas to earn the rare title of prima ballerina assoluta. As always, the formula was buttery perfect on all four polishes. They're soft shades, but still very complex to photograph (I swatched them three separate times because the outcome didn't do them justice! Three times!) What my pics don't capture is the full holographic rainbow.
Dancing with Nureyev is a blurple holographic. With all of these polishes, the finish practically glows...something my DSLR camera didn't know how to handle. But it's gorgeous. This one is my absolute fave!
Her Rose Adagio is a soft, neutral pink. The holo effect isn't as intense on this more subtle shade....but it's still amazing and perfect for work!
Fonteyn, a silvery lavender holo, was definitely the most difficult color to capture. My camera wanted to make it baby blue. I don't think I've ever seen a holo this shade before. Super pretty.
And last, but not least, this is Encore Margot. It's very similar to Fonteyn, but leans to a soft, pale blue. Sometimes when I look at it, I catch a glimpse of seafoam green. In any light, it's a beautiful spring color with a very decent, but not overpowering, holo effect.
I love all four of these. They're perfect for spring. Each swatch is two coats of polish and no topcoat. Application was perfect. a-england has never disappointed me!
