So my first swatches of the year are from Vivid Lacquer. Which is fitting because Vivid Lacquer happens to be the first polish brand (indie or otherwise) to send me samples. :) Plus, I love how the title of this post came out. LOL. I have a triple, duo and a single to show you today. All are available in the Vivid Lacquer shop which just reopened on 3 January. All the links are at the end of the post.
As You Wish Trio (I LOVE this movie!)
The Sea After the Storm (my absolute fave!) is a described as a "darkened teal scatter holo filled with gold flakes." I seriously couldn't do any better describing it than that! The flakes are very subtle and the overall effect is a really rich green shade. My swatch is one thin coat and one generous coat.
Not a Lot of Money in Revenge is a purple jelly with tons of silvery green shimmer and a hint of red. Does that sound amazing? It is! My pics don't do it justice. My swatch is again one thin coat and one generous coat.
Fire Swamp is a green/gold duochrome with red shimmer. You really have to see this in person to see the color change. It's very cool. In the bottle it reminds me of Ninja Polish Shillelagh...but the shimmer is more pink and less golden. It took three thin coats to achieve full opacity.
Pin-Up Collab (this is a collaboration with Jess W Photography)
Crimson Vixens is an orange-red crelly with a beautiful pink shimmer. Very pretty. This is two easy coats.
Bettie Sage is a mint crelly with the most delicate copper shimmer. It's undetectable in most light (and you can't see it in my pic)...but the polish is pretty both with and without it. I really had a hard time capturing this color. It's a bit more dusty and less bright in person. The formula was a little streaky with the first coat, but full-coverage in the second. I had to use a thin third coat for smoothness.
Finally, we have the newest addition to the Theoretical line (which includes many of my favorites!) Theoretical Nude is right up my alley. This nude creme has a subtle pink shimmer and darker flecks. The darkness gives it a unique depth. Anni says this shade is reminiscent of the discontinued, hard-to-find Borghese Almondine. So if you've had that on your wishlist, you should definitely check this out. Like Bettie Sage, it was opaque in two coats, but I used a thin third coat for smoothness.
All swatches were finished with a single coat of HK Girl by Glisten and Glow. So what do you think? Will you be picking any of these up?
Vivid Lacquer is BIG3 free and available in the VL Etsy store for $9 for a generous 15mL bottle. Be sure to follow Vivid Lacquer on Facebook for info on new collections and restocks! I also love VL stamping plates...so check those out too!
