Before I get to the swatches, you MUST see the boxes. Here’s a pic I posted to Instagram the day they arrived. Gah!
Spaced Out is my absolute fave of the bunch. It’s a gorgeous, bright, clean blue that shimmers. You can't see the holo much in my pic. But who cares? Look at that blue!
NCLA describes LA to Anywhere as a black holographic. The shimmer and pearlescence give it more of a charcoal gray shade. It's like dark silver. Wow!
Lightyears Ahead is a pearly, shimmery, holo silver. It definitely has the rainbow going on, but the luster softens it a bit and makes it a little different than your standard silver holo.
And last but not least, Vacation on Mars is a soft mauve-y pink. This one can really appear different depending on lighting and skin tone. I’ve seen swatches that are more purple and some which lean more pink. In some light, it even looks gray. My photography setup isn't the best at capturing the range of colors in holo polishes. (It's like my camera focuses tooooo much maybe?) I'll take a pic with my iPhone and post it to IG since...shhhhh....I wore this one to work today.
The formula was really nice. As I alluded to, the holo is really much stronger in real life. The opalescent softness of Space Academy is subtle...but it puts a small spin on the holo trend. All swatches are two coats of polish followed by one coat of NCLA Gloss It base/top coat.
NCLA Space Academy HOLOS Collection nail lacquers retail for $18USD each (15ML) and Gloss It! retails for $11USD. These are available now at www.shopncla.com and in select retail locations. For news and promotions, follow NCLA on facebook, twitter, and instagram.
