Digit-al Dozen Does Books: Zoya Cat in the Hat

 press sample
It’s Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen Book Week. As I mentioned yesterday, the books I read now are boring…hence they make boring nail art. So I’m doing manis based on my childhood favorites.

Who doesn’t love “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss? I very clearly remember reading this as a child. I thought I’d hit the big time because I could read it straight through. But as it turns out, this was totally by design.  Dr. Seuss (Ted Geisel) was challenged to write a book using only 225 words drawn from a list of 348 words every six year old should know. He came close! He used 223 words from the list and only 13 which were not. So clever!

Cat in the Hat Nail Art with Zoya Darcy, Snow White and Carmen

Quick! What’s the first color that comes to mind when you see the book cover? Blue? Teal? What was the first thing I thought? Zoya Rocky, of course! So the base is two coats of Rocky. I used Zoya Snow White to paint in the entire cat silhouette and the hat nail. Then I used Zoya Carmen for the red stripes. I finished with a small nail art brush and black acrylic paint to create the details. I love this mani!

Who else immediately thinks of polish when trying to describe a color? I clearly have a problem!

Be sure to check out the other Digit-al Dozen interpretations of their favorite books!
