Digit-al Dozen Does Books: OPI Go, Dog. Go

 press sample
It’s Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen Book Week. Today’s book was chosen by my daughter. I remembered “Go, Dog. Go!” as this simple early reader with no plot. But my daughter informed me of its tales of intrigue…complete with developing relationships and all-out dog parties! Why don’t I remember it that way? LOL!

There are a few different color variations of the cover out there on the interwebs, but the red and green one is the cover I remember best. I think I actually have my daughter’s copy somewhere in the bowels of the house. This makes me want to dig it out…but I know that would mean starting a “project” that I would quickly regret starting!

Go, Dog. Go! Nail Art

The base of the mani is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. After that was dry, I placed one narrow piece of tape down the middle of each nail. I filled in with OPI Red near the cuticle and OPI Greenwich Village at the tips. At this point all I could think of was the Italian flag!

I wrote the letters and painted the dog and car with acrylic paint. I know, I know…some nail art purists are against acrylic paint. But I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m just not talented enough to make it work with nail polish. With acrylics, you can keep painting over mistakes until everything looks right (or less wrong…in my case!) I used topcoat after the tri-color base, but I didn’t dare topcoat the final look lest my dog became some mushy, detail-less rendition of the real thing…a la Curious George!
