ellagee You're the Top! Collection Swatches & Review

ellagee is a new name in indies. I actually crossed paths with Laura, the maker of ellagee, many moons ago when she and I swapped the “blogger only” and “store only” versions of Pure Ice Sugar Cookie. One day she mentioned she might like to make polish – and in the blink of an eye, this overachiever had a logo, a store, two polish collections and really a beautiful product!

The You’re the Top! Collection is based on the old standards from the 1930’s and 40’s. These glitter-filled, clear-based topcoats add life to any manicure. I’m honestly super impressed. Her base is really smooth and easy to apply and her glitter combos are smart and delicate. You may think I’m just saying this because I know her…but take a look at the pics and decide for yourself. :)

I'll start with my unexpected favorite. Crazy He Calls Me is a rainbow glitter explosion! It's not the look I usually go for, so I didn't think I would like it. But I actually love it! I used one coat of Crazy He Calls Me over three coats of China Glaze Creative Fantasy.

That Old Black Magic has different shades of black and charcoal glitters that are matte, sparkly and holographic. The result is silvery black. My swatch is one coat of That Old Black Magic over two coats of Zoya Kelly. Very cool.

Beyond the Sea has magenta, gold, turquoise and blue square and hex glitters. It’s a beautiful combination. For my swatch, I've used one coat of Beyond the Sea over two coats of butter LONDON Slapper.

Fly Me to the Moon has multi-sized silver hexagon glitter. There are lots of silver glittery holographic topcoats out there - but if you don't have one, this is a really beautiful option. My swatch is one coat of Fly Me to the Moon over two coats of China Glaze Man Hunt. This combo is to die for, isn't it?

I’ve Got a Crush on You is a delicate mix of pastel pink, white and silver glitter. My swatch is one coat of I’ve Got a Crush on You over three coats of OPI Panda-monium Pink. It’s so pretty…like Cinderella nails.

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered  is a combination of iridescent glitters. If you look closely, you can see pastel pink, baby blue, lilac, sea foam green and silver. I used one coat of BB&B over a two coats of Zoya Neely.

And last but certainly not least is Lush Life. It has black, white, charcoal and silver glitter. In the bottle, it looked pretty close to That Old Black Magic…but it's not even close. Lush Life has a more graphic black/white effect to it. I’ve used one coat of Lush Life over two coats of Essie Madison Ave-Hue. This combo is stunning.
