Illamasqua Throb and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City French Mani

Today I have a French Mani using my first and only Illamasqua polish. The only thing I know about Illamasqua is that I have to look at the bottle each and EVERY time I type it so I spell it correctly. It just won’t register in my brain! Throb is an easy red creme from the 2011 Throb Collection, which has three polishes…all with gross names. Call me a prude, but I like my cosmetic monikers to be a little less edgy. But I'll let it slide because I loved the polish. On to the mani!

Throb is a great chinese red creme. Almost a one coater...with a smooth, buttery formula. The tips are Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City. I’ve always loved this silver. It’s a bright, metallic, foily shimmer. I’ve never worn it on its own (and never will), but it’s an excellent accent polish. Beware though. It is super smelly and don’t get it on your skin! The failproof makeup-brush-dipped-in-acetone clean-up method can’t get it off. It just spreads silver shimmer everywhere!

So what’s your experience with Illamasqua? Am I the last nail blogger on the planet to try it?

  3. I have Aorta, one of their rubber brights, which dries to a rubbery, satiny, matte finish. I love it. Throb has been on my lemming list for a while; I can't wait to pick it up.
