Shimmer Polish Swatches Part 1

 press sample
Happy Monday! Today is Part 1 of 2 of my Shimmer polish swatchathon. Shimmer's glitter architect, Cindy (with some help from my sister), sent me the best surprise nail mail ever! Let's get to the first seven swatches!

Shimmer polishes are just that...shimmery. Most shades are dense, fine, multi-colored, multi-shaped glitters in a clear or slightly tinted base. The glitter combinations are very complex, but versatile. On Friday. I showed you Leslie over Sinful Colors Let's Talk, a deep royal purple/blue. Below is Leslie over Zoya Kelly, a rich gray. Can you believe it's the same polish?! I ran into zero issues with the formula. All swatches have one coat of Seche Vite topcoat. Full-sized pics are in the gallery at the end of the post.

Marilyn is a dense burgundy glitter in a tinted jelly base. I've used two coats of Marilyn over one coat of China Glaze Exotic Cranberry. Stunning, really.

Elsa is a turquoise, red and gold glitter. I've used one coat of Elsa over two coats of a-england Galahad. I love this combination!

Julia is a delicate, frosty blue. I've used one coat of Julia over two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. See the pink? All of the polishes have surprises like that.

Carol is a copper mix with blue accents. I've used one coat of Carol over one coat of OPI You Don't Know Jacques. I know I might be in the minority, but when I opened the box...Carol was the one I reached for! Sometimes it's nice to see a reserved glitter.

Amy is a rainbow of colored glitters in a pink-tinted base. I've used two coats of Amy over two coats of Zoya Farah. Farah is a nude polish, so you can really get a sense for the coverage that's achievable with multiple coats.

Sarah is a tropical green and blue mix (see the purple...again with the surprises). I've used one coat of Sarah over two coats of China Glaze Flying Dragon (Neon). None of my photos do any of these polishes justice...but especially this one. The combination looked very mermaidy. Very cool.

It's so hard to choose a favorite from this bunch! If I had to pick...it would be Marilyn and Elsa. What do you think? Check out the big pics and be amazed at all of the different glitters in each bottle.

You can purchase these polishes for $12 each in the Shimmer Etsy store. You can also find Shimmer on facebook. Stay tuned! Tomorrow is Part 2.
