I promised yesterday to say more about the Zoya 2012/2013 Ornate Collection. I gotta tell you again...this is my favorite Zoya Collection ever! Scattered holos in jewel tones from Zoya is like the ultimate tri-fecta of nail polish for me. Yesterday, I showed you Zoya Gilty over Aurora, the purple/plum holo of the collection. Today I have a mani that curiously reminds me of Iron Man.
Since there are so many talented bloggers out there doing their thing with awesome swatches (Scrangie comes to mind), I wanted to switch it up a bit with some nail art. So today I have a simple tape mani with two new polishes from the collection, Zoya Blaze and Ziv. Um...hello??? Looove these two. Here's a pic of the punchline.
And here's how I did it. I started with three coats of Blaze, a plummy-red with micro-sized holographic glitter. Did I tell you I love this collection yet?
This shot really shows off the diamond/holo effect. Oh...did I tell you I love this collection?
Then I did a simple tape effect. I placed ordinary gift wrapping tape in a criss-cross pattern. I lined up the tape in two opposite diagonal corners of the nail and ensured it was adequately sealed to the surface. Then I polished a generous coat of Zoya Ziv. Ziv is a not-too-yellow metallic gold. I love it because it doesn't have a frosty finish, but rather an authentic gold leaf finish...more like the loose gold leaf you see an artist use (I just spent an hour on YouTube watching gold leaf videos!) Here's a pic showing my tape placement.
And here's the finished product. And, yeah, um...did I happen to mention that I LOVE this collection?
Tomorrow I'll show you two more polishes from the Ornate Collection.
