Miss Independence: July 4th Stamped Mani

So I don't usually wear literal nail art. But the 4th of July is an opportunity to get all sorts of crazy and wear an American flag-themed mani proud. However, in the spirit of full-disclosure, this mani made me feel like I was wearing a set of ginormous acrylic nails with oversized airbrushed french tips! (Admit it...you were totally thinking that too.) That's a good look for some people...just not for me. So this masterpiece came off about two seconds after this post was finished. It was patriotic while it lasted!

I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On. I covered the base of each nail with a hole reinforcer and stamped the nails in OPI Red with Bundle Monster Plate BM205. OPI Red is a good stamping red. It's on the thicker side and stamps opaque. I immediately removed the hole reinforcers after stamping each nail. Then with a small brush, I painted two coats of China Glaze Dorothy Who in the white space at the cuticle line. I waited awhile to apply top coat so my red stripes wouldn't smear.

Overall, it's not my favorite mani of all time, but it's definitely holiday-appropriate.
