Corals don't love me...but I love them. Lately, I'm into the whole coral/taupe color combo. I planned to use an untried, OPI I Eat Maine-ly Lobster, with an oldie-but-goodie polish staple, OPI You Don't Know Jacques. But after using two coats of the Lobster, I realized it had a cool shimmer to it and You Don't Know Jacques seemed like it would be too heavy and creamy. Plan B, use another favorite polish staple, Butter London All Hail the Queen. The shimmers of the two polishes are quite similar....they're "shimilar". (Oooh, I'll have to save that one for a future blog post title!)
After two coats of Lobster and one coat of Seche Vite, I used curved french tip nail guides to tape off the center of each nail. I had to polish two coats of Queen for coverage. Two coats made tape removal tricky (normally, you remove the tape immediately after one coat). Queen is pretty thin though so my edges stayed clean. Seche Vite evened out any remaining ridge.
Half and half manis are fun because, depending on how you're looking at it, it can look like you're wearing only one color. (If indeed you have time for such nonsense as moving your hand around your face at different angles...which clearly I do and I did.)
Maybe my colors are slightly off...I didn't love this at first, but it's growing on me. What do you think?
