This mani falls into the costume category. I don't know why, but the Wizard of Oz was the first idea that popped into my head when I saw The Beauty Department's Gingham Accent Nail tutorial. I had just acquired (that word makes me feel better than saying "purchased") China Glaze Ruby Pumps. And so this manicure was born. Then I figured with some slight alterations...(stripes instead of gingham and swap the red and blue) this would make a great 4th of July mani!
This was easy but had a lot of steps. I started with one coat of China Glaze Paint the Town Red on my ring finger and two coats of Zoya Ginessa on the rest - followed by Seche Vite. Then I polished two coats of China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the ringer.
The tutorial explains how to do the gingham nail. I used Zoya Tallulah on the tape and then cuts strips and laid them on my middle finger. I sealed the tape with Seche Vite (I sound like a Seche Vite commercial!)
I finished the white and gingham nails in a coat of Pure Ice Don't You Wish because I can't help but add it to almost every mani! Then I polished everything with one more coat of Seche Vite to make it smooth.
The photo doesn't do the Ruby Pumps justice. It is the most amazing red glitter polish. Not grainy at all. Just super sparkly with a smooth red base. It would be great for a summer pedicure or a winter holiday party manicure. Very versatile.
My daughter actually complimented me on this one! But mostly she thinks I'm crazy.
